Course Description

– Consists of 25 lectures

– Codes: ACI and BS (technical report 43)

– Programs used: RAM concept

– We have divided this level into four stages:

• Stage No. 1

Presentation about prestressed concrete.

Difference between post tension and precast concrete

Importance of post tension

Components of prestressed system

the value we get by using post tensioned slabs

Difference between distributed and banded system

• Stage No. 2

Theoretical background about balancing load method

ACI code requirements for post tensioned system including (minimum thickness, min. and max.

spacing between tendons, allowable stresses, cross sections types, incremental deflection, long-term

deflection, min. precompression force, etc…..)

Manual calculations of immediate and long term losses

Brief about manual calculations of flexure and shear for post tension

Steps of execution of post tensioned flat slabs for a real project

• Stage No. 3

Introduction about RAM concept program includes:

How to make a DXF using CAD

Modeling of several elements (slabs, beams, columns and walls)

Design strips characteristics

Modeling of tendons and reinforcement

Check incremental and long-term deflection

Check stresses

Exporting tendon layout from RAM to AutoCAD

• Stage No. 4

Implementation on two different projects (garage and residential building)
